About the Client

It’s a licensed digital asset trading platform headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. Founded in 2019 by a team of fintech and ex-banking professionals, the Exchange became one of the first crypto platforms in the country to obtain a Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) license following South Africa's 2022 crypto asset regulations.

The platform serves over 200,000 registered users across South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, offering spot trading, a Rand-denominated stablecoin on-ramp, and a mobile-first app built for first-time crypto users.

The mission is to make digital assets accessible and trustworthy for everyday Africans.

The Challenge

Crypto adoption in South Africa is booming, but trust is the industry's biggest hurdle. Our client — a licensed crypto exchange in South Africa — needed to build a loyal, engaged community in a market where digital assets are still often linked to scams and volatility. On top of that, they were competing for attention against 15+ local and international crypto exchanges, all chasing the same audience of first-time investors and crypto-curious South Africans.

The mission: turn skepticism into trust, and turnattention into a real, active community.

Our Strategy

We built a community-first crypto marketing strategy grounded in education, local relevance, and consistency:

  • Educational-first content — plain-language guides on regulation, wallet security, and how crypto actually works
  • Local-language, local-context storytelling — Rand volatility, cross-border remittances, and real African use cases for crypto
  • A community-led Telegram, with daily market updates and real conversations, not just announcements
  • Partnerships with 12 African crypto micro-influencers to reach niche, high-trust audiences
  • Weekly AMAs with the founding team, giving the community direct access to leadership

What We Did

Execution was consistent, data-driven, and built for compounding growth:

  • 96 organic posts across X (Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn over 6 months
  • 24 short-form videos — explainers, founder interviews, and AMA highlights
  • A Telegram community managed 24/7, with real-time support and moderation
  • Paid boosting on top-performing organic content (18% of total budget), maximizing reach without inflating spend
